How do I solve bed adhesion issues?

If you are experiencing issues with parts lifting or failing to stick, please follow these steps in order.

(Note: these recommendations apply to PLA filament and PEI build plates.)

  1. Surface Preparation: Ensure your build plate is thoroughly cleaned (warm water and dish soap or IPA) and completely dry. Fingerprint oils can be a common cause of adhesion failure.
  2. Apply "Brim Ears": For minor lifting at sharp corners, add "Brim Ears" (also known as mouse ears) to the specific areas of the model that are prone to warping.
  3. Utilize a Full Brim: If corners continue to lift, configure your slicer to add a Full Brim around the entire perimeter of the part to increase the surface area contact with the plate.
  4. Plate Rotation & Maintenance: If a large full brim fails to adhere to a clean plate, the PEI surface may be worn or degraded in that specific spot. Try repositioning your model to a different section of the build plate or consider replacing the PEI sheet if it is heavily used.

Because detailed settings vary by machine, we recommend consulting your specific slicer’s documentation for instructions on adjusting brim settings.
